Endometrióza: specializovaná péče v Brně a proč je důležitý individuální přístup

Endometriosis: specialized care in Brno and why an individual approach is important

Endometriosis is a condition that affects up to one in ten women of reproductive age. Yet many patients are told by their gynecologist that they are “fine” even though they suffer from pain, irregular periods, or infertility. They often go from one office to another for years before they receive a proper diagnosis.

That is why the Endocentrum was established in Brno at the Gynecology and Obstetrics Clinic of the University Hospital, which systematically deals with endometriosis. It has received the official status of a specialized center for the treatment of this disease - which is essential, because endometriosis is complex and requires a multidisciplinary approach.

"Endometriosis is a very complex disease that affects many areas of a woman's life. Therefore, it is important that patients are cared for by centers that can offer a comprehensive and individual approach," explains Professor Vít Weinberger, head of the clinic.

How does the first visit go?

The waiting time at the Endocenter is usually 1–2 months. A woman can come with a request from a gynecologist, but also without it - no one is turned away.

The first examination is usually longer and includes:

  • a detailed medical history – it is recommended to bring medical reports from previous examinations or surgeries,
  • gynecological and ultrasound examination , which may take longer than usual,
  • discussion of reproductive plans and possible connection with the Assisted Reproduction Center,
  • explanation of the diagnosis and treatment options – the goal is for the woman to understand her findings and be able to participate in decision-making.

"If this is the first visit with a detailed examination, we are often the ones who tell the patient the diagnosis of endometriosis. It is necessary to explain what the disease is, why it occurs, and what can be done. This is a difficult but essential part," describe the doctors from the endocenter.

Multidisciplinary collaboration

Endometriosis affects multiple areas – gynecology, urology, surgery, psychology and everyday life. That is why Brno strives for teamwork:

  • with physiotherapists – often recommended to patients to relax the pelvic floor and break the vicious cycle of pain,
  • with urologists and surgeons – who are present directly during operations,
  • with psychologists and psychiatrists ,
  • with nutritional specialists .

"I think I give every second patient a request for physiotherapy. It helps break the cycle of pain and tension in the pelvic floor muscles," Gabriela Tuatti said in an interview with doctors from the endocenter.

Open communication between doctor and patient is a cornerstone of care for women with endometriosis.

Openness to complementary care

The team in Brno is not opposed to complementary methods if they bring relief to the woman. These include, for example, yoga, acupuncture or Chinese medicine.

"When a patient comes to us and says that acupuncture or yoga helped her, we take it as a positive signal. It means that she is interested in her own health," say the doctors.

The center is gradually creating a catalog of verified collaborators so that women can be directed to trusted experts outside of conventional medicine.

Natural support for hormonal harmony

Arevali's innovations are born right at the intersection of medicine and natural care. NaturEndo , developed by naturotherapist Gabriela Tuatti, is a purely natural set of dietary supplements designed for women with hormonal imbalances, endometriosis, PCOS or painful menstruation.

It combines talaromycin – a unique bioactive substance with immunoregulatory and anti-inflammatory effects – with phytoprogesterone , minerals and vitamins. According to women's experiences, it can relieve pain, support cycle regularity and improve quality of life.

Important advice from doctors from the endocenter

Doctors from Endocentrum have a clear message for women who suffer from pain, irregular cycles, or suspected endometriosis: don't give up .

  • "Feel free to pick up the phone and place an order, even without a request form. We won't turn anyone away."
  • “From minor problems to the most difficult ones – we take everything seriously and with comprehensiveness,” says Professor Weinberger

What can you take away from this?

  • If you have problems and the gynecologist does not want to refer you, the endocenter will still accept you.
  • Don't underestimate even small problems. Painful menstruation, spotting between cycles, or chronic fatigue may be related to endometriosis.
  • Long-term follow-up is possible. Endometriosis accompanies a woman through various stages of life – from pregnancy planning to menopause – and the center offers support and dispensary services.
  • Every woman is different. Doctors emphasize an individual approach – there is no one-size-fits-all solution.
  • Don't be afraid to talk about everything. Whether it's physical symptoms, psychological issues, or experiences with complementary methods, open communication is key to better treatment.
